What is a search engine?
Simply put, a search engine is any service like Google, Bing, Yahoo, Ask, etc. that allows you to search for something and receive in return results matching what you searched.
You may notice that when you type words into Google that you get back more than one result. Often millions of results are returned. Google decides which results to place at the top and which ones to place further down. In order to do this, Google considers many factors such as keywords (“BBQ”, “Restaurant”, “Buffet”, etc.) that are common terms people use while searching. The collective of all the factors that search engines consider creates your page ranking. Naturally, the higher your page ranking is, the higher your website will appear in the search results. You want your business to appear near the top in order to attract as many customers to your website as possible. In fact, research has shown that 95% of traffic goes to websites on the first page. How do I increase my page ranking?
Unfortunately, there is no clean answer for this because websites like Google change their prioritization methodology frequently. Some of the safe and consistent things you can do are:

- Post comments that contain links to your website on other websites such as Facebook.
